Bus Routes
The routes for 2026-2027 will be posted approximatey 2 weeks prior to the first day of school. No changes will be made prior to September 14th, except for daycare needs or new students who wouldn’t otherwise have a stop. If your child will be going to daycare or parents plan to transport to/from school, please notify the Transoportation Office by email at lshellman@simsburyschools.net to be sure your child is assigned the correct bus, or not assigned any bus, as the case may be.
Students are requested to be at designated bus stops (the end of the driveway or a community corner stop) 10 minutes before scheduled pick up time. Times listed on the route sheets are computer-generated and are meant as a guideline; they are subject to change due to route changes. This is especially true in the first few weeks of school when timing and routing adjustments are being made. There are new students, new routes and new drivers, and understandably there is an adjustment period. Times can also be influenced by traffic, weather and temporary road construction throughout the year.

All students who are not in a walking area are assigned a bus to/from home and school during the summer months. It is not assumed that any alternate arrangements you made during the previous school year (i.e. daycare, multiple parent homes) will remain the same for the next school year.
Please fill out the Request for Alternate Transportation form each summer by August 1 in order to have your bus assignment when the new routes are posted. This form can be filled out online if your browser is Internet Explorer or Chrome. Firefox does not support online forms. If your arrangements change again during the current school year, please notify the Transportation Department. Completed forms should be sent to the Transportation Department via:
- Mail - Simsbury Public Schools, 933 Hopmeadow St, Simsbury CT 06070
- Email - lshellman@simsburyschools.net
- Fax - 860-651-4343
- Dropped off at your school office for forwarding to the Transportation Office

Secondary students at HJMS and SHS who remain after school for activities may use the Activity Bus to get home.
Buses leave HJMS at 3:50 pm and SHS at 4:00 pm. There are two activity buses, one servicing the north end of town and one servicing the south end. The routes are very general and do not follow the regular routes or regular stops since these two buses essentially cover the same distance as 29 regular routes.
Students who are first-time users of the Activity Bus should tell the driver where they live and ask where the closest stop will be for them to exit the bus. The activity buses do not run on the first 3 days of the school year and they do not run on SHS/HJMS early dismissal days. Please contact SHS or HJMS at the start of each school year for the date they plan to start running the activity bus.
You can read the description of the Activity Routes and view the Activity Bus Route Map to become familiar with where the route runs in relation to your home.
